This Fairmined silver pink tourmaline ring was hand-carved as a wax model before casting it in silver. The silver ring weighs approximately 13 grams. The design of the ring is entirely carved around the shape of the stone. The wax is carved specifically for this particular gemstone, as each stone is unique. Around the base of the stone are four Fairmined eco yellow gold prongs holding the pink tourmaline.

What are tourmalines?

The tourmaline gemstone, alongside opal, are the birthstones for October.  Tourmaline is naturally found in an array of different colours, ranging from yellows, and oranges to different shades of pink to blues, purples, and greens. Tourmaline is generally mined in Brazil and many parts of Africa, including Tanzania, Nigeria, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Malawi, and Namibia

Ring sizing

This ring is a size 51 European size. You can purchase this ring in your ring size, just state your size in the additional comments during the purchase process. The design for this certified Fairmined silver colourful gemstone ring was hand-carved as a wax model and then cast in silver. The wax is carved specifically for these particular gemstones, as each stone is unique.

Can the ring be made to any specific ring size? The answer is yes, but this means that the ring has to be recarved and new gemstones need to be sourced. In this case, it also means that the price of the ring may change.

There are three gemstones in this ring. A 2.21ct oval-shaped sphene originating from Madagascar and two small 3mm round turquoise-blue Australian sapphires. The sphene has little inclusions which are found naturally in the stone. Inclusions are little impurities, which makes each gemstone unique.  All three gemstones are from responsible ASM (Artisanal Small-scale Mining).

Fairmined spiral ring

Large hand-carved certified Fairminded silver double spiral ring with a high polished finish. The beginning of the ring is an 8mm square thickness and tapers down along the coil to 2mm thickness at the other end. Carved in a spiral and designed to wrap around the finger.

Carving process of the double spiral ring

The design for the Fairmined silver double spiral ring is first drawn onto a block of wax and then the shape is hand-carved out of the block. Once the spiral design is achieved, the wax is cast into silver.
